Image resizer

Resize an image. Right here, on your device.

Change the size of a JPG, PNG or WebP image in pixels or percent, compare it with the original and download it. Free, no account, and your image is never uploaded.

Choose an image

Stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is added to a gallery.

Resize an image without uploading it

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, set the new size, see it next to the original and download it. The resizing happens on your own device, in your browser. The image is never uploaded to us, so there is nothing to store and nothing to delete.

It is free, needs no account, and has no daily limit, because nothing about it runs on our servers.

How to use it

Choose an image. You will see its dimensions, file size and format.

Set the new size in pixels, or as a percentage of the original. The aspect ratio is locked, so changing the width updates the height to match.

Pick the output format. It stays the same as the original unless you change it. For JPG and WebP you can set the quality.

Tap Resize, compare the result with the original, and download it.

Common sizes

Instagram square post: 1080 × 1080. Instagram portrait post: 1080 × 1350. Story or Reel: 1080 × 1920.

YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720. Full HD screen or video frame: 1920 × 1080.

LinkedIn profile banner: 1584 × 396. X (Twitter) header: 1500 × 500.

Profile photo on most sites: around 400 × 400. Image inside an email: around 600 pixels wide.

Each preset fits your image inside that frame and keeps its proportions, so nothing is stretched. If your image has a different shape from the frame, crop it first for an exact match. Platforms change their recommended sizes from time to time, so check theirs when it matters.

Formats, transparency and quality

PNG and WebP keep transparent areas transparent. JPG cannot store transparency, so when you save a transparent image as JPG you choose a background colour, white by default, and the preview shows the result on that colour.

JPG and WebP are compressed with some loss. The quality slider trades file size for detail: around 80 to 90 is usually indistinguishable from the original at a much smaller size. PNG is lossless and has no quality setting.

Animated PNG and WebP files can only be saved as a still image here, of the first frame. The tool tells you before it does that, and you decide whether to continue.

Making an image bigger

Enlarging an image adds pixels, not detail. The tool fills in the new pixels by blending the ones around them, which gives smooth edges but cannot recover detail that was never captured, so a small photo made large looks soft. For the sharpest result, start from the largest original you have and only make it smaller.

Limits

Images up to 30 MB and 50 megapixels can be opened. The result can be up to 8192 pixels on its longest side and 16.7 megapixels in total, the largest image every phone browser can reliably create.

Common questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. It is resized in your browser and never leaves your device. We only count that a resize happened, with its settings, never the image or its name.

Is the image resizer free?

Yes. No account, no charge and no daily limit.

Which formats can I resize?

JPG, PNG and WebP. GIF, HEIC and AVIF are not supported on this page.

Why does my enlarged image look blurry?

Making an image bigger cannot add detail that was not in the original. The new pixels are blended from their neighbours, which looks soft. Start from a larger original if you can.

Can I change the shape of the image?

Unlock the aspect ratio and set any width and height. The image will be stretched or squeezed to fit, and the tool warns you when that happens.

Will my image be added to my CMeIn gallery?

No, never, even if you are signed in. The resized image only goes to your device when you download it.

What happens to location and other hidden data in the file?

Resizing redraws the image, so hidden details such as location are not carried into the new file.
