What photos suit you?

Pick the types that sound like you: the artist, the adventurer, the cynic, the big kid. You get the one way each type's photos usually go wrong on a profile, and a set of real scenes that fix it.

  1. 1 Who you are
  2. 2 Your photo set

Who are you, honestly?

Pick up to three. Your photos should look like your life, so the set starts from who you are, not from a template.

Why your photos should start with who you are

Most dating profiles fail the same way: six photos that all say the same thing, or nothing at all. A profile works when the photos show a life someone could picture stepping into. That life looks different for the funny one, the handyman and the businessman, so the photos should look different too.

This page sorts that out in two steps. Pick the types that sound like you, read the one way each type's photos usually go wrong, and get a set of real scenes built to fix it.

For the slots themselves, which photo leads and what each of the others has to do, read what photos work best on dating apps and the best profile pictures for dating apps. This page fills those slots with scenes that sound like you.

Mix up to three types

Nobody is only one thing. Pick a single type and you get six scenes for it. Pick two and you get three of each. Pick three and you get two of each, alternating, so the set reads as one person with a few sides rather than a theme. The artist who is also the adventurer gets a gallery opening next to a summit, not six easels.

How the photos are made

Every scene is a real scene from the CMeIn catalog, made from your own phone photos, with your own face, not a smoothed or idealised version of it. Each photo comes out a little different from anyone else's who picked the same scene, so two people with the same set never end up with the same picture. With an account the set opens in Create, and nothing is generated until you press the button.

All 27 types and the photos that suit them

The Funny One

Gets the whole table laughing, does the voices, never tells a story the same way twice.

Where it goes wrong. Funny in the bio, a stiff selfie in every photo. The jokes have nothing to stand on.

What fixes it. Show the laugh happening: a karaoke toast, a claw machine win, a trampoline park, a pizza table with friends.

Scenes: Karaoke toast, Claw machine prize, Trampoline park, Silent disco, Rooting for the team, Pizza party.

The Social Leader

Books the table, starts the group chat, the one everyone looks at when the plan falls apart.

Where it goes wrong. Solo shots only. Nobody can see that the room organises itself around him.

What fixes it. Him with people following the plan: a whiteboard, a team standup, the route on a sailing deck, a dinner toast.

Scenes: Whiteboard strategy, Team standup meeting, Talking on deck under sail, Map reading huddle, Fundraiser gala, Dinner toast.

The Handyman

Owns a drill he actually uses, fixes the thing before you finish describing it.

Where it goes wrong. Gym mirror selfies hide the best thing about him: he can build and fix almost anything.

What fixes it. Hands busy with real work: a carving bench, a ramp build, a fence repair, under a car in the garage.

Scenes: Carving class, Workshop job with the crew, Wheelchair ramp build, Fixing fence, Under a car in the garage, Fixing amp cables with friends.

The Kind-Hearted One

Remembers your mother's name, carries the heavy bags, gives without keeping score.

Where it goes wrong. Kindness does not show in a selfie, and writing "I'm a good guy" in a bio reads as the opposite.

What fixes it. Show it, do not say it: tea with an older neighbour, feeding the cat, helping a colleague, doing the dishes.

Scenes: Elderly home visit, Feeding the cat, Helping a colleague with a laptop, Washing dishes, Community planting day, Holding a baby in the kitchen.

The Party Guy

Knows every bartender by name, finds the after-party, turns strangers into a group.

Where it goes wrong. Every photo is a blurry 2am flash shot. Fun reads as messy.

What fixes it. The night out with energy and good light: a house party, a glow party, line dancing, an arena concert.

Scenes: House party dance, Glow party, Line dancing club night, Cheers with friends, Arena concert, Karaoke toast.

The Businessman

Calendar full, blazer on the chair, still answers your message within the hour.

Where it goes wrong. A LinkedIn headshot on a dating app. Successful, and about as warm as an invoice.

What fixes it. Competence with a life around it: a client handshake, presenting to a room, a gallery opening, a round of golf.

Scenes: Client handshake, Presenting to the room, Luxury car valet, Sailing in Monaco harbour, Gallery opening, Golf among the pines.

See the businessman set

The Artist

Paint on the sleeve, a notebook in the bag, talks about the thing he is making as if it already exists.

Where it goes wrong. His profile is all moody close-ups. Nobody can see the talent, only the brooding.

What fixes it. Show the making and the scene around it: a group painting class, an exhibition opening, a poetry reading.

Scenes: Group painting, Exhibition opening, Gallery opening, Poetry reading, Lyric notebook at the cafe, Cozy bookshelves.

The Athlete

Up at six, knows his split times, says "quick" before any distance.

Where it goes wrong. Every photo is a gym mirror. It reads as a training log, not a person anyone could date.

What fixes it. Sport with other people in it: pad work with a partner, a volleyball spike, beach football with friends.

Scenes: Punching pads, Volleyball spike hit, Tennis court, Partner stretch circle, Lakefront bike ride, Beach soccer.

The Geek

Three monitors, opinions about keyboards, explains things very well and slightly too long.

Where it goes wrong. The only photos of him are screenshots, or a face lit by a screen.

What fixes it. The social side of nerdy: a VR demo, a neon arcade, an escape room, chess in the park.

Scenes: VR demo, Neon arcade, Escape room puzzle, Chess in the park, Cozy bookshelves, Astronaut.

The Intellectual

Reads three books at once, quotes the one you have not read, means well.

Where it goes wrong. Comes across as homework. Serious face, bookshelf, no sign of fun.

Scenes: Rainy-day bookshop reading, Poetry reading, Chess in the park, Reading on campus, Vienna coffeehouse, Whiteboard strategy.

The Romantic

Plans the second date before the first one ends, remembers the song that was playing.

Where it goes wrong. Too much, too soon. Sunsets alone read as "looking for a wife by Friday".

What fixes it. Warm settings and shared moments: swing dancing, a beach picnic, a wine toast, a campfire singalong.

Scenes: Swing dancing in a social hall, Beach picnic, Star jasmine trellis walkway, Wine toast, Bench with a blanket, Campfire singalong.

The Adventurer

Has a story that starts with "so the bus broke down" and a passport that is out of pages.

Where it goes wrong. Every photo is a landscape with a tiny dot in it. Which dot is him?

What fixes it. Him, close enough to recognise, on the trip: a skydive, a summit with the group, a snowy forest hike, a balloon basket.

Scenes: Skydiving desert, Sunrise summit, Motorcycle stop on a mountain road, Sailing the Bay of Islands, Snowy forest hike, Hot air balloon.

See the adventurer set

The Cynic

Raised eyebrow, dry one-liners, secretly the warmest person at the table.

Where it goes wrong. The bio is a roast and the photos agree. Funny reads as cold without a face that is laughing.

What fixes it. Understated and observant, and let the bio carry the jokes: an after-party, skyline coffee, a night walk with friends.

Scenes: After party, Late office review, Skyline coffee, Rainy-day bookshop reading, Night walk on the pier, Cinematic alley.

See the cynic set

The Mysterious One

Says little, notices everything, wears dark colours on purpose.

Where it goes wrong. So mysterious there is nothing to ask about. One shadowy photo is a vibe, five is a missing person.

What fixes it. Keep the mood, add a world: a Barcelona corner, an autumn garden, a night safari, a quiet reading nook.

Scenes: A corner in Barcelona's El Born, Cinematic alley, Autumn in the Luxembourg Gardens, Night safari, Night walk on the pier, Cozy reading nook.

See the mysterious one set

The Chill One

Never in a hurry, always has snacks, the calmest person in any crisis.

Where it goes wrong. Comes across as "no plans for the future". Every photo is a couch.

Scenes: Chatting on a sailing deck, Skyline coffee, Autumn leaves picnic, Meditation in an alpine meadow, Pet friendly cafe, Sunny terrace brunch.

See the chill one set

The Family Man

Knows every cousin by name, runs the grill, best with kids at the party.

Where it goes wrong. Comes across as someone already taken. Every photo has his sister in it.

What fixes it. The warmth, with him at the centre: a community table meal, a kiddie pool splash, a group picnic, folding the laundry.

Scenes: Holding a baby in the kitchen, Folding laundry, Community table meal, Kiddie pool splash, Elderly home visit, Group picnic.

See the family man set

The Perfectionist

The shirt is ironed, the coffee is weighed, the plan has a plan B.

Where it goes wrong. Too polished to be real. Studio-perfect photos read as a LinkedIn profile.

What fixes it. Precision as a habit, not stiffness: organised shelves, a printmaking bench, rope prep at the dock.

Scenes: Organizing shelves, Cleaning windows, Ironing a shirt, Printmaking studio, Rope prep at the dock, Fixing amp cables with friends.

See the perfectionist set

Scenes: Claw machine prize, Trampoline park, Retro arcade, Astronaut, Kiddie pool splash, Birthday party.

See the big kid set

The Alpha

Firm handshake, big laugh, first to volunteer for anything with a risk.

Where it goes wrong. Shirtless, a fish, a car. The checklist that makes people swipe left on instinct.

Scenes: Whiteboard strategy, Talking on deck under sail, Map reading huddle, Punching pads, Dinner toast, Renovating a Victorian house.

See the alpha set

The Nice Guy

Remembers your birthday, helps you move, somehow always ends up "like a brother".

Where it goes wrong. Kind reads as safe, safe reads as friend. The photos show him helping, never leading.

Has a favourite knife, a sourdough starter with a name, and a list of places you must try.

Where it goes wrong. Every photo is a plate. People want to date the cook, not the dinner.

Scenes: Cooking in a Provence courtyard, Pastry workshop, Brunch conversation, Wine toast, Collecting eggs, Oyster bar.

See the foodie set

The Spiritual One

Morning meditation, herbal tea, asks how you are and waits for the real answer.

Where it goes wrong. Comes across as on another plane. A photo of a sunset and a quote does not show a person.

What fixes it. Grounded and with people: an alpine meadow, a stargazing outing, a candlelight vigil, a tree planting day.

Scenes: Meditation in an alpine meadow, Calm spa meditation, Stargazing outing, Candlelight vigil, Tree planting day, Star jasmine trellis walkway.

See the spiritual one set

See the motorhead set

The Entertainer

Life of the party, has a bit for everything, sings in the car without irony.

Scenes: Spoken word night, Theater rehearsal, Small stage karaoke, Ballroom waltz on stage, Brass band parade, Court jester.

See the entertainer set

The Musician

Calluses on the fingertips, a capo in every jacket, hums the bass line of whatever is playing.

Where it goes wrong. Every photo is him on a dark stage from forty metres back. Nobody can see the face, or the fun.

What fixes it. Close enough to see him play: a band night, an acoustic circle, the practice room with the crew.

Scenes: Battle of the bands, Acoustic circle, Fixing amp cables with friends, Tuning guitars in the practice room, Brass band parade, Small stage karaoke.

See the musician set

The Rocker

Leather jacket, ringing ears, knows every venue in town by its sound system.

Where it goes wrong. All black, no smile, a crowd shot. It reads as a gig poster, not a person to meet.

What fixes it. Rock with a social life: a soundcheck with friends, an open mic, a motorcycle stop, an arcade after.

Scenes: Battle of the bands, Soundcheck with friends, Open mic acoustic circle, Motorcycle stop on a mountain road, Retro arcade, Street style in Sodermalm.

The Lazy One

Champion of the long brunch, owns the best spot on the sofa, has never rushed a Sunday.

Where it goes wrong. Lying down in every photo. Relaxed reads as unmotivated.

Scenes: Karaoke sofa hang, Cozy reading nook, Spa reading, Cafe game night, Zoo bench rest, Sunny terrace brunch.

Questions

Is this a personality test?
Not a scored one. You pick the types that sound like you, the way a friend would describe you. The point is the photos, not a label.
Do I need an account to try it?
No. Anyone can pick types and see the set with example photos. To make the photos with your own face you need a free account and a couple of phone photos of yourself.
What if I am more than three types?
Pick the three that matter most for the person you want to meet. You can change the mix at any time, and in Create you can still add or remove single scenes by hand.
Does it work for women?
Yes. Every scene can be made for a woman. Switch the examples to Woman to see them where the catalog already has a woman's example.
How much does it cost?
Trying the types is free. Making the photos uses credits, 300 a photo, from packs starting at $2.99.
